Kayla is a warm, compassionate Registered Psychologist who holds a Master of Clinical Psychology from the University of Southern Queensland, a Master of Public Health (Health Promotion), a Graduate Diploma of Psychology (Advanced) and a Bachelor of Psychology.
Kayla brings experience working with individuals experiencing a range of mental health challenges, combining her clinical psychology training with a strong understanding of the broader social and environmental factors that influence wellbeing.
Her background in public health shapes her approach to therapy, recognising that mental health challenges don’t exist in isolation and are often understandable responses to our experiences, relationships and the world around us.
Kayla works with adolescents and adults aged 16 and over, supporting individuals navigating a range of emotional, psychological and life challenges.
She has a particular interest in working with:
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) – including intrusive thoughts, compulsions and obsessive thinking patterns.
Eating and body image concerns – including binge eating, disordered eating and body image difficulties, using a weight-neutral, Health At Every Size (HAES) informed approach.
Anxiety and depression – supporting individuals experiencing persistent worry, low mood and emotional distress.
ADHD and Autism – providing neurodiversity-affirming support for neurodivergent individuals.
Perfectionism and burnout – helping individuals navigate high expectations, self-criticism and overwhelm.
Identity and self-acceptance – offering an inclusive, affirming space for members of the LGBTQIAP+ community.
Kayla is passionate about creating a therapeutic environment where people feel genuinely understood, accepted and supported, without judgement or pressure to fit a particular mould.
Kayla takes a collaborative, individualised approach to therapy, recognising that everyone’s experiences, needs and goals are different.
Her practice is trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming and grounded in evidence-based psychological therapies, including:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)
Schema Therapy
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills
Above all, Kayla values the therapeutic relationship and believes meaningful change begins with feeling safe, heard and understood.
She brings warmth, curiosity and a little humour into her sessions, creating a space where clients can explore their experiences, better understand themselves and work towards meaningful, lasting change.
Outside of the therapy room, Kayla enjoys reading, reformer Pilates, CrossFit, spending time at the beach, travelling and catching up with friends and family.
